FAQs

  • We have various Max-Value and Utility-Swap solar programs available through our Green Power partners, and we’ll find the best one for your family during our FREE consultation. Click HERE to apply!

  • With a Max-Value program, you’ll own your solar system, meaning you’ll receive the federal tax credit and added value to your home.

With a Utility-Swap program, you’ll simply swap your electricity bill for a lower fixed monthly payment through one of our Green Power partners and use a solar system to power your home instead of dirty coal and natural gas (what utility companies mainly use). However, with this option, our Green Power partner will own your system, meaning they’ll receive the federal tax credit and it won’t add value to your home.

  • A Max-Value program is best if you have taxable income and would like to receive the federal tax credit and added value to your home.

A Utility Swap program is best if you don’t have taxable income but would like a lower fixed monthly payment for electricity that never increases.

  • Solar programs are a utility expense, meaning, aside from the soft credit check needed to qualify for one, they won’t affect your credit score.

  • 30% based on your total system amount, as signed into law through 2032 by President Biden on August 16th, 2022.

  • Depending on your tax liability, the IRS will issue your credit in full during the following tax season via Form 5695, or space your payments out equally over five years.

  • We work with local installers throughout the United States to ensure the highest quality of care and customer service.

  • If you choose a solar program, there are zero costs for installation and you don’t start paying your monthly program dues until we activate your system.

If you choose to pay in cash, you’ll pay half at signing and the other half after installation.

  • Our installers only use BloombergNEF Tier 1 Rated Brands that are backed by SolarInsure's Approved Vendor List.

  • 1-2 months after installation. Once we install your system, it must pass the inspections of your city and utility company. This takes about a month. If you need a main panel upgrade, this adds an additional month. You’ll receive an email from your installer once your system activates.

  • During the permitting, installation, and inspection period, you’ll continue paying your normal utility bill and receiving power through your utility company.

  • No! Once your system is active, it’ll produce your electricity and you’ll only pay the basic monthly service charge to your utility company to stay legally connected to the grid.

If you use more energy than your system is producing, then you’ll pay the difference at their electrical consumption rate if you don’t have any Net Metering account credits for that month.

  • Your utility company purchases the excess energy that your solar system produces, which you don’t use, via account credits through their Net Metering Program, which varies by state.

  • Yes, but only during the day when the sun is shining. At night, if you don’t have a solar battery, you’ll need a generator to power your home, which is what we recommend using, as batteries are more expensive.

  • In most states, no, you don’t need solar batteries as the power grid acts as your battery through your utility company’s Net Metering Program.

  • On average, $5,900 per kW, according to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

    1. Transfer the program to the new homeowner.

    2. Increase the price of your home by your program cost, plus its added value, then pay off the remaining balance of your program once your home sells. (Recommended)
