Solar programs are the state-and-federally-mandated renewable energy programs that most households pay into in the United States if they receive electricity from their utility company, which vary from state-to-state. These programs and their costs are shown on your monthly electricity bill in the extra charges section, and the amount you pay each month is based on your kilowatt-hour (kWh) energy usage.
